I’ve just taken Bea for a walk for the first time since returning, using the collar & short lead you gave us. I also had my waist belt attached to her West Ham collar as back up for my not-terribly useful left hand. To me, her basic walking to heel is not that different from before as I have used a short lead & similar commands (quick jerk, knee) for some time. However, she always used to pull in some places & here there is a marked improvement. She didn’t pull when crossing roads (thank goodness!) and carried on walking to heel on the nearby open area, Wanstead Flats (heath with ponds & football pitches). She looked at other dogs (all at some distance) but walked on. This is so different to the exhausting pulling & running from side to side that had put me off taking her there. So a very promising start. She’s now snoring gently.
I’ve ordered some raw food, arriving tomorrow.
Anyway, thank you very much for looking after her so well and for all the work you have done with her. The pack walk was a brilliant idea and a good way to train owners! It’s up to us now.

After trying numerous techniques, collars and harnesses, I still could not manage to train my two 3-year-old mastiff to walk to heel. After just one class, the dog has significantly improved and now walk lose lead next to me.
We still have a long road ahead, but at least I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I will be continuing to take them to classes to work on improving both dog’s obedience.read more

I have a 2 year Doberman that I cannot walk as he is very reactive. I have “wasted” 8 months and a ton of money with a force free trainer and got nowhere. In fact I felt it was getting worse. I had to keep my dog in the garden as he would pull me over if he saw another dog to get at it. I felt I had no quality of life nor did my dog. A big dog like a Doberman should have plenty of exercise and I could not give him this. I was too scared to let him off the lead as he would just bolt if he saw another dog
After doing my research I came across Peter Hargreaves and enrolled my dog on his 14 day residential dog training program. Believe me my dog was returned and the difference in him was well beyond expectations. Peter insisted on walking him in the local and very busy park and my dog was just incredible. Peter then told me to let him off the lead, my heart dropped as this is my biggest nightmare, however I did this and my dog just romped around without a care in the world. He came back when called and as my confidence get higher I was walking past other dogs

I was rescuing a dog from another country and Peter is the only trainer I spoke to who would take her on, as I realistically had no idea if she had behavior issues or not. He spent so much time on the phone to me, initially, giving me comfort and courage and just putting me right at ease.
Then, when the dog came, Peter helped to collect her, deal with the transportation company and keep me posted throughout the entire training, being honest about any issues he spotted and how he was working on them.
Finally, Peter traveled for hours to deliver my dog back to me, and spent so much time with me, teaching me how to carry on working with her and even treated me to a lovely breakfast with the dog, so we could test how she is on a social setting - well she was perfect! She went from being a "street dog" to a well mannered, pleasant, house trained pet and he has made it clear he is available any time extra help is required.

My dog Toby (French Bulldog x Jack Russell) was cocky and rude. He is fear reactive to other dogs, bikes, runners - you name it! I contacted Peter as I was at the end of my tether and beyond worried that eventually Toby would really hurt another dog or god forbid a person. Peter instantly calmed me down. The first time I spoke to him we must have spoken for an hour about Toby and his issues. It was clear to me straight away that Peter cared and wanted to help best he could. Peter then came to meet myself and Toby at my own home the following week and we started work. What I appreciate most about Peter and the way he works is he is clear, to the point and no nonsense. He showed me exactly what I needed to be doing and I did it. The change in Toby was instant, that is no word of lie. Today I have been on a mini pack walk with dogs off the lead, around a busy park, on a Sunday. In other words my worst nightmare! I'm not going to say Toby was perfect because it's a work in progress - but what an improvement. The other dogs were right in Toby's face and I was totally in control, he even started to enjoy himself. I will 100% be at the next big pack walk. I would (and have already) recommend Peter to anyone who is serious about improving their understanding of their dog and his/her behaviour.

I was at my wits end with my 14 month old border collie constant barking at nothing, snapping in a very aggressive manner at other dogs, people, bikes, cars in fact it seems everything. I heard about Peter from a friend who attended his pack walks so I gave him a call. Two appointments were made though I did not really expect much. Anyway after the first appointment and after Peter explained that I love my dog too much and over indulged in affection by allowing the dog to sleep on my bed, sit on the sofa and I quickly recognised that my dog controlled my life. After a few changes diet, rules and boundaries I could see the change in my dog. After the second appointment Peter came with his own dogs and we practised walking nicely with my dog and without pulling it was great. I feel that my dog and I are in a much better place still a way to go though. However I feel that I have my life again. I can walk Freddie now, he does not bark no where as much and he is far calmer. If you are stressing over your dog contact Peter as I am sure he can change your dog like he did with Freddie

Peter provided us with an easy to understand and practical training plan which we could implement clearly as owners moving forward. He is also very knowledgeable regarding the behavioural issues we had with our puppy, and it was clear from the start that he has a connection and love for dogs in general. We re-homed Benny at the start of the year and we’ve been sourcing help from Peter recently. We adopted a staffie x from a sanctuary a few weeks ago, and he came with a few issues. Dog Harmony has been fantastic. After our second session with Peter just a week ago, we have just taken Poppy on a brand-new route and have walked past cats, dogs and people without incident and finally without pulling which has made going on walks a joy again. This is the main thing we have taken away i.e. there are no quick fixes and to truly develop a better relationship with your dog you MUST be committed. Luckily, we are. Peter has been great in listening to us and what we want from our dogs and then teaching us how to get there in a clear and concise manner. He is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. This is not a one visit and done session - Peter has done 2 follow up sessions with us beyond the initial one and is easily reachable via phone or email if you need advice or support. He was willing to continue working with us as long as we needed but after 3 effective sessions, we feel we are on the way to the results we want and have the tools necessary to continue forward on our own. We had two stubborn dachshunds who had territorial aggression issues, pulled on the leash during walks, chased cats and cars as well as other behaviour issues (a lot to deal with!). While not completely gone, all of those issues are significantly better, and our dogs are more relaxed in general. We still have room for improvement, but the change has been great. If owners are willing to do the work and enforce rules consistently, Peters training works like a dream. Thanks again.read more

My 1.5 year old Shepherd mix Apollo had his first training session with Peter about two weeks ago and we have already seen such a large difference in behaviour in such a short training period. Apollo is a super energetic pup who often has a mind of his own and tends to not listen, especially when excited. Peter was able to teach us to speak our dog’s own language to better predict his behaviours and pull back his energy to a controllable level. He helped us understand WHY Apollo behaves in a certain way and how to pinpoint areas to effectively fix.
After a few hours work with Peter and a continued effort on our part, Apollo no longer rushes guests when they come to the door, and finally understands personal space. We are very excited to continue working with Peter to start some leash training with Apollo next session. Peter is a wonderful training and the effect he has with dogs is mesmerizing. My goal is to one day have that sort of presence. We didn't know what to expect when Peter arrived having never asked a dog trainer for help before. We thought we'd be outside the whole time with the training, but surprisingly no. Peter had told us how much improvement we should expect to see in Lucy's behaviour after just one session, but I remained sceptical as I had little to no training real training experience. Peter was incredibly patient and took the time to explain everything beforehand to ensure I didn't have any questions. Could not recommend Peter enough, we had a highly reactive Great Dane on lead & no matter what we tried we just couldn't break the cycle. We were getting to the point where walks were no longer enjoyable & we would avoid dogs as much as possible. My Husband and I were referred to Peter at end of 2018 by our vet who specialised in behavioural issues. Our dog Bruiser was treated for anxiety and a compulsive disorder. He would chase his tail multiple times a day and for long periods at a time. He was commenced on two medications by our veterinary behaviourist prior to our initial consult with Peter.
We contacted Peter who worked with us at home and provided training tools to help Bruiser be more relaxed and comfortable at home. We knew it would be hard work and take time, but we are seeing magnificent results and Bruiser loves his training. We rarely see Bruiser spin and are now able to leave him outside for prolonged periods of time without him becoming anxious or chase his tail. Positive reinforcement training with the combination of medications has been hugely beneficial and, although it has been hard work, we are seeing brilliant results.
We found Peter extremely professional and dedicated. The training provided has been extremely effective and rewarding. It is a great feeling to see our dog improving every day. She has provided excellent follow up and is regularly in touch to ensure everything is still on track. Peter is always more than happy to answer any questions and provide information and recommendations when necessary. We are truly thankful for the help Peter provided us. We cannot recommend Peter more highly for anyone needing assistance with their dog.read more

We were in big trouble with our beloved rescue dog who was highly leash reactive to people, cats, dogs with bite redirection tendencies. Peter was more than happy to take her case on stating "I am looking forward to meeting this girl, I think working with her will be very interesting!" and it was simply the best answer we could have hoped for. Our dog and Peter got along beautifully straight away and she made amazing progress in such a short time - calmly walking on the lead past all distractions, zero reactivity and a delight overall. Peter helped our dog become so calm, so care-free and gave her back her happiness and beautiful, sweet nature. Not only has he helped us with fully training our dog, but he also extended her board & train booking at extra short notice at our request (twice!) and we will ALWAYS be extremely grateful for this. Peter has been very friendly, professional and easy going throughout our experience with him and the updates we received, the phone conversations were simply delightful knowing our dog is in the best of hands! Words cannot describe our gratitude, I don't think there are enough words powerful enough to thank him for his help. We adore this dog and wanted every single chance she had to be offered to her flawlessly and I have no idea how we bumped into Peter and his amazing service, but one thing we know for sure is that we would have NEVER been able to achieve what he has achieved and with such passion. To know your dog is well cared for, happy and her days are fulfilled with love, training and exercise is beyond amazing.

"I own an 8 year old female beagle. Beagles are high energy, nose driven and stubborn. I had problems with her jumping on me and friends when she greeted at the front door. I had problems with her howling/bellowing at other dogs that walk down the street, people walking or a leaf blowing across the lawn. To walk her, it was a fight to keep her nose up, and to not pull me along. I needed help. After the two sessions with Peter, I went right home and started to work. I have AMAZED myself. The jumping has stopped completely. The howling is MUCH better, and still is a work in progress. Putting the leash on my beagle is a dream now, and I can actually open the front door to take her for a walk without her charging past me.read more

Best training we ever did for our new puppy. He has been transformed into totally a different puppy whereas he would actually listen to and obey commands. He is still the pup we fell in love with, just with a lot more obedience which is absolutely what we were wishing for.
I would recommend this training to anyone, especially for hyper active dogs like our Golden Doddle. We would definitely do it again with our next dog! Thanks a lot Peter.read more

Peter is a top-notch trainer and he saved my sanity when we brought our new dog home. I said from the start that I needed Peter to train me on HOW to train my dog and that’s exactly what he did. I needed to know why my dog behaved the way he did and really understand him. Peter gave me the tools to get Beau to behave and listen. We’ve had him almost two months and he is such a wonderful dog. I was pretty much at my wits end when Peter arrived for our first training session. Beau was constantly looking for attention and acting up when he wasn’t getting what he wanted. Peter was able to give me several simple suggestions to get the situation under control.
We had two training sessions following the first to work on basic commands and both went incredibly well. Peter instructed me on when to train Beau and how often as well as giving me suggestions of how to tire Beau out while we are inside. I am so glad that I found Dog Harmony and Peter!read more

Everybody (except us) knows that you don't take two dogs from the same litter. Certainly not two well bred working cocker spaniels. Jumping up, running around madly, barking at nothing, pulling on the lead, not coming back and generally uncontrollable. Two very sweet beautiful specimens however with lot of brains.
Following a month with Peter the result is two obedient, much calmer, non pulling, non jumping up dogs who are a complete pleasure to take on a walk. The raw food diet Peter has introduced them to means that their coats are more glossy; it takes them longer to eat as previously they were wolfing down their dry food and then looking for food elsewhere for the rest of the day. They are very intelligent dogs but it seems that Peter has encouraged them to use their brains and so they seem much happier and less frenetic.
Peter is an extraordinary man…. Believe me this is a miracle.

I have to say that Peter was brilliant with Gizmo, our 2-year-old French bulldog. He was very helpful with training tips for myself and my husband Ben which we use to continue the training. Peter came to our home after a brief phone call and within the first 90-minute session we saw a remarkable difference in Gizmo which we have continued to improve upon every single day since Peters visit. After fighting for months to get my 2 year old Bulldog To go for a walk without grabbing the lead and locking on he was so stubborn and not let go we gave up and stopped taking him out After a phone call to Peter he said we should get him walking on the lead within 2 visits which my husband and I thought no chance. It took quite a while on the first visit as I don’t think Stanley liked Peter as he wasn’t getting his own way but eventually we did get him walking on the lead. Every night after that he went for a walk and was getting easier every time. When Peter came back he walked with us and 2 cats ran in front of Stanley and he never showed any interest. We continue to walk Stanley everyday which has now become a pleasure it is like having a completely different dog. I’ve worked with numerous dog trainers in my time as I tend to adopt rescue/abandoned dogs. Many of my past companions have come from situations of stress or maltreatment and as such are never confident, happy or obedient. Peter is the best trainer I have worked with hands down. Despite my love of dogs I myself am not a trainer and as well as addressing my dogs bad behaviours (reactivity, leash tugging, object defence etc) Peter also spent a great deal of time teaching me a lot about my role as an owner and how little changes to tone and body language can have huge effects on a dogs behaviour. Peter was absolutely incredible not just with our puppy but with our older dog too. He is so understanding and great with the dogs. Rosie our 4 month old puppy was so quick to listen and learn all of the lessons Peter taught him and me. So grateful for the time and effort He put in and wouldn’t want anothim trainer! We will be doing more training once the pup gets a little older and so happy we were able to get connected to such a great trainer right off the bat.

When my partner, Keith and I decided we were going to get a Rottweiler puppy we were both rather anxious. Unlike me, Keith had never owned a dog before and was concerned about making sure the puppy was trained correctly. My concerns were because we had just finished a two-year renovation of our home, and I didn’t relish the thought of a puppy wrecking it!
As it turns out neither of us had anything to worry about. Peter has been absolutely amazing and I am so happy that we contacted him.
After a brief conversation with him, we decided to go for the ‘puppy training package’. In two-hour session prior to the puppy’s arrival Peter talked through everything we needed to know about getting the puppy home and our first few days together so that Keith and I felt confident and well prepared for the task ahead. Bobbie’s arrival (including the six hour journey home after picking her up) was completely stress free and by following the advice we had been given we were both amazed at the speed at which she became comfortable with her new family and home.
Over the following weeks Peter has worked with us and given us the knowledge and ability so that Bobbie is growing up to be a well behaved, confident and loving puppy. If we ever needed advice we knew we could always call him and the support he gives has made this experience amazing.
I would recommend to anyone who is getting a puppy (even if you have owned dogs before) that if they want to give their new arrival the best start they possibly can, then they should arrange to see Peter. Keith, Bobbie and I cannot thank him enough and we will forever be grateful.read more

I know we have not been to see you in a while and have been busy with lot of things so far this year. I wanted to let you know that Rosie is doing great. She is a completely different dog. That little beagle that tried to bite you on the first day is so much calmer now The dog that had no confidence has become the social butterfly of the neighborhood. She enjoys playing and meeting new dogs and has adjusted well with our 2 Maltese.
The kids absolutely love her to no end and she has become a wonderful addition to our family. This is the same dog we had apprehension of after we got her in dealing with her issues. The time investment and commitment has been well worth it all. Sure, she is not perfect and we need to work on a few things but she has come full circle.
Peter, I really wanted to thank you for the service that you provide to help
